Nothing Like It 100 Percent Pure Folklore

Danza Fiesta: Baile y Teatro Puertorriqueño is part of the non-profit organization Diversity in Arts and Nations for Cultural Education, Inc. ("D.A.N.C.E., Inc."). Danza Fiesta is a New York-based folk dance company of 25 dancers and musicians under the direction of the Puerto Rican folklorist, Ms. Gilda Rivera-Pantojas.  Today, Danza Fiesta's members devote a great deal of time, energy and enthusiasm towards celebrating, and preserving the traditions of our Puerto Rican heritage and culture.

GILDA RIVERA-PANTOJAS

Ms. Gilda Rivera-Pantojas received a Master in Arts in Dance Education from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Theater and Dance from the University of Puerto Rico. Ms. Rivera-Pantojas was a principal dancer and choreographer in the dance group Gibaro de Puerto Rico for more than two decades. She traveled worldwide performing folkloric dances from Puerto Rico in many international dance festivals.  

Incomparable Passion

In 1979, Ms. Rivera-Pantojas served as director and choreographer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the XXIII Pan-American Games held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Ms. Rivera –Pantojas directed 1,536 students who performed dances from Latin American countries.  Due to her success in this project, she co-founded and directed Ballet Isleño for 8 years.  She is the founder and executive director of D.A.N.C.E. Inc., and the artistic director of Danza Fiesta for the past 25 years.
